EXECUTIVE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION CAMPAIGN RULES

It has been determined that in order for candidates to allocate their resources most effectively the following criteria should be adhered to by candidates running for Executive Board offices.
USE OF BULLETIN BOARDS
All campaign materials must be approved by SEBA before it can be posted on a SEBA Bulletin Board (see "Use of Bulletin Boards" in Safety Unit MOU,
Safety Management MOU,
Specialized Peace Officer Unit &
Specialized Peace Officer Supervisory Unit MOU; see "Bulletin Boards" in
Specialized Fire Services Unit MOU). SEBA will not approve the posting of defamatory material. Materials submitted will be reviewed promptly and the candidate will be advised accordingly. Candidates will be given the opportunity to rewrite any material that has been rejected.
INSERTION OF CAMPAIGN STATEMENT WITH BALLOTS
Each candidate's voluntary Campaign Statement will be inserted with the ballots subject to adherence to the following conditions:
- Maximum length 450 words if an original photo is submitted (photo to be reduced to 2"x2").
- Maximum length 500 words if no original photo is submitted.
- Statements that exceed the appropriate permissible length shall be edited to conform to size. The manner in which this editing is accomplished shall be discretionary. The candidate will NOT be consulted. Words that are omitted shall be replaced with three periods.
- No grammatical or spelling errors contained in any statement shall be corrected by SEBA.
- Statements MUST be RECEIVED by SEBA no later than 1700 HOURS THE WEDNESDAY FOLLOWING THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING. Statements may be sent by U.S. mail, hand carried, or e-mailed to emonsalve@seba.biz. ** DO NOT USE INTER-OFFICE MAIL. ** SEBA does not accept responsibility for delays in the U.S. mail.
- SEBA reserves the right to re-typeset all campaign statements to save postage and paper.
The purpose of these rules is to ensure evenhanded treatment of all candidates. In order to meet that goal, all SEBA staff is instructed that they may make no accommodations for any candidate who violates any of the above requirements. Any candidate who violates any of the above campaign rules could be disqualified from the current elections.
